The latest picture shared widely on social platforms is of a young girl in school uniform sobbing uncontrollably while meeting an old lady.
The story has moved many to tears, is though a true one but is a decade old, this picture was taken on September 12, 2007, by photojournalist Kalpesh S Bhachech, his son Dipam Bhachech posted the following on his Facebook post.

On Sept.2007, Mr. Kalpesh was asked to cover a school trip to “Manilal Gandhi Old Age Home in Ghodasar”, the call was made by the principal of GNC School in Maninagar Gujrat.
During the field trip Bhachech asked the school kids to sit with the elderly so that he could take photographs, as the children got up one of them screamed and ran to the old lady across the room, the old lady cried too, and soon, they were in each other’s embrace.
Mr.kalpesh adds that “we were all speechless, after taking pictures I asked her, Baa (as a old lady is called in Gujrati), said the girl was her granddaughter.” Bhachech shared in an article On BBC Gujrati.
Bharech shared that — as the story making rounds on social media went — the girl had said then that her father had told her that her grandmother had gone out, when “reality was that she had gone to an old age”
“Seeing the heart-wrenching scene of Baa and her granddaughter, everyone was moved tears like me,” Bhachech wrote. “In order to cheer everyone up, students started singing beautiful songs to the elders.”
A photo story of the rendezvous was published on the first page of Gujarati daily Divya Bhaskar the next day.
“It became a topic of debate in almost all of Gujarat. This picture shook the people,” wrote Bhachech.
Bharech also revealed that in her interviews to local TV channels later, the grandmother said she had gone to live in the old age home on her own will.
As to why the truth was kept from the young girl, or what happened to the old lady later is not known.
The Picture went viral again as on the occasion of World Photography Day on August 19th, BBC Gujrati had asked journalists from across the state to share the best photo stories of their career.
When Kalpesh S. Bhachech shared this story with all his pictures, social media quickly picked it up and, hence, the story went viral.
Bhachech currently works with Divya Bhaskar and is based in Ahmedabad.
